Who is the 20-44 Personal Lines License For?

A Personal Lines Agent is a professional who can transact property and casualty insurance sold to individuals and families for noncommercial purposes in Florida. If you want to boost your insurance career and focus on personal clients, this is the license for you.

How to Earn Your 20-44 Personal Lines License in Florida

  1. Check Eligibility: Be at least 18 years old, a Florida resident, and a US citizen or legal work-authorized resident.
  2. Complete an Approved Pre-Licensing Course:
    • Choose Your Path: Most students take the approved 60-hour pre-licensing course—online, instructor-assisted with OLT!
      OLT offers this online—study at your own pace, anytime!
    • You may also qualify with insurance work experience, a qualifying degree, a license transfer, or a CPCU designation - details in the table below.
  3. Create your MyProfile account with MyFloridaCFO.
  4. Apply for your license online and pay the required fees on the MyFloridaCFO portal.
  5. Submit Proof of Prerequisite: If you study with OLT, we send this for you after you pass.
  6. Get Fingerprinted: Schedule fingerprinting with an approved vendor.
  7. Pass the State Exam: When required, schedule and take the Florida DFS exam.
  8. Watch for Approval: Log in to MyProfile to check your status and print your license when approved.
