Who is the 2-20 General Lines License For?

A General Lines Agent (2-20) is authorized to sell property and casualty insurance—including auto, home, commercial property, liability, marine, surety, and more—to both individuals and businesses in Florida.

How to Earn Your 2-20 General Lines License

  1. Check Eligibility: Be at least 18 years old, a Florida resident, and a US citizen or legal work-authorized resident.
  2. Complete Pre-Licensing Requirements:

    • Or qualify via approved work experience, degree, transfer, or designation.
  3. Create your MyProfile account with MyFloridaCFO.
  4. Apply for your license onlineand pay the required fees.
  5. Submit Proof of Prerequisite: If you study with OLT, your certificate will be sent to the state for you.
  6. Get Fingerprinted: Schedule fingerprinting with an approved vendor.
  7. Pass the State Exam: (unless exempted via degree, designation or license transfer).
  8. Watch for Approval: Log in to MyProfile to check your status and print your license once approved.
